Meet the Guys

Many of you have been asking for more information on the guys you are praying for and supporting here in Haiti.  God could not have put a better group of young people together and it is exciting to be a small part of the magnificent work He is doing in these individuals.  Thank you for continuing to make a positive impact in their lives.

Clivens Francois is 20 years old and in the 8th grade. He wants to learn to drive and loves to play football (soccer.) He likes to make people laugh but can be serious too.  His favorite color is yellow and he wants to be a pilot someday. He was born in Port au Prince, Haiti and both of his parents are gone. He was 10 years old when he began living on the streets. He has 2 sisters and no brothers. He currently works at HandUp Global Goods.

He chose not to finish academic school, believing that it is more important to get a job and earn a living. He loves playing football and learning to speak English. His favorite color is yellow. He was born in Port de Paix, Haiti. His dad is gone but his mom is still alive. He was 9 years old when he went to live on the streets. He has 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

 

IMG_20160204_172839131HerbyBarthelmy is 19 years old and in the 11th grade. He loves to play soccer and is fairly good at speaking English. He transitioned out of Zanfan Lakay in December 2015. His favorite color is sky blue. He was born in Port au Prince, Haiti. His dad is alive but his mom is deceased and he was 10 when he started living on the streets. He has no sisters and 3 brothers. His wants to be a lawyer someday.

Kervens Germain is 18 and has always loved to play basketball.. He is in the 6th grade and works at Zanfan Lakay, taking care of the little children. He also likes taking care of the garden there. His favorite color is white. He was born in Belair, Haiti and went to live on the streets when he was 7. Both of his parents are gone and he has 3 sisters and 1 brother. His dream is to be a big basketball star. (By the way, Kervens is taller than most of the other guys here.)

 

JosueJosue Laverdy is 19 years old and in the 8th grade. He loves Jesus, music and has many friends. His favorite color is black. He was born in Plaisance, Haiti. His dad is alive and his biological mom is deceased. He can’t remember if he was 8 or 9 years old when he went to live on the streets. He has 5 sisters and 4 brothers. He currently works at HandUp Global Goods. His dream is to be a great DJ and will DJ at churches, schools, weddings, etc.

Louis Richardson (“Tiblanc”) is 21 years old and likes to play basketball. His favorite color is red and he is fairly good at speaking English. Tiblanc is very charismatic and full of life.  He was born in Port de Paix, Haiti and was 10 when he started living on the streets. He has one sister and currently works at HandUp Global Goods.

 

IMG_20160203_210157776Mackenson Bienaime just turned 18 in December and aged out of Zanfan Lakay that same month. His hobby is doing mechanic work on cars. His favorite color is white and he is in the 8th grade. He was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti. Both of his parents are gone and he has no sisters or brothers. Mackenson is a very kind and loving person. His dream is to be a mechanic.

Mackenson Noel just turned 20 in December. He likes basketball and loves to make bracelets. He is in the 8th grade and also works at HandUp Global Goods. His favorite color is black. He was born in Mibalen, Haiti and thinks he was 10 when he went to live on the streets. He never knew his dad and his mom is deceased. Mackenson is a very gentle and sensitive soul who wants to be a businessman someday. He currently works at HandUp Global Goods.

Marcial Timothe just turned 22 in December. He is in the 9th grade. He loves to work at HandUp Global Goods and to watch soccer. His favorite color is yellow. He was born in Gronave, Haiti and went to live on the streets when he was 11. He has no parents and no siblings. His dream is to be an engineer.

 

MaxMax Emile is 19 years old. He loves working at HandUp Global Goods. He also loves church and soccer. He is in the 11th grade and his favorite color is white. He was born in Jeremie, Haiti and did not live on the streets. He has no parents, just one sister. Max is a quiet and thoughtful person, very intentional in all he does. He is very goal oriented and, in fact, initiated the business plan of the boys making bracelets when they lived at the orphanage. Through God’s divine workings, this eventually turned into HandUp Global Goods, which currently employs the first group of guys who transitioned out of Zanfan Lakay. His dream is to be a pastor.

IMG_20160128_131654007_HDRPatrick Joseph just turned 21 last month and is in the 8th grade. His hobbies include doing body shop and mechanic work. His favorite color is black. He was born in Port de Paix, Haiti. He has no dad but his mom is alive and he has 2 sisters. He was 9 years old when he started living on the streets. Patrick is a solid person, very studious and actively plans for his future. His dream is to be able to help the young children who find themselves living on the streets here in Haiti. He currently works at HandUp Global Goods.

Reginald Charles just turned 20 in January and is in the 8th grade. He loves church, working out, school and basketball. His favorite color is red and he was born in Port au Prince, Haiti. At the age of 11 he started living on the streets. His dad is deceased and his mom is alive. He has 1 brother. Reginald is a very protective person and a “rule follower.” Ever since I have known him, he has said he wants to be a security guard. He has refined that now to wanting to be a body guard to the president of Haiti. He currently works at HandUp Global Goods.

 

IMG_20160205_182657320Samuel Joseph is 18 years old and in the 7th grade. He aged out of the orphanage this past December. He loves basketball and he loves to sing. His favorite color is black. He was born in Cite Soleil, which is an extremely impoverished and densely populated commune located in the Port au Prince metropolitan area. His mom still lives there and his dad is dead. He has 2 sisters and 1 brother. Samuel thinks he might have been 11 when he started living on the streets. He is one of 6 boys who aged out of Zanfan Lakay in December 2015. His dream is to becomes a doctor.

SteeveSteeve Joseph is 18 years old and has 1 year left to finish school. He aged out of the orphanage in December and is very focused on school and getting a job. He feels a strong responsibility to the other 5 guys who live with him. Steeve is fairly fluent in English and credits Carmelo Francois Jerry (“Melo”) for teaching him English when he lived at Zanfan Lakay. Steeve loves soccer and his favorite color is yellow. He was born in Delmas, Haiti and was 6 years old when he started living on the streets. He doesn’t know anything about his parents and knows of 1 brother. His dream is to become a doctor.

Watson Beby Dolce (“Mustafa”) is 17 years old and in the 7th grade. He likes soccer and basketball. His favorite colors are red and black. He was born in Port au Prince, Haiti and was 8 years old, living on the streets. He has no parents and 3 sisters and 3 brothers. His dream is to be a soccer player and a leader to the children on the streets.

 

IMG_20160130_102259900Yvener Eugene is 20 years old and in the 9th grade. His favorite color is black and he loves to play soccer. He was born in Port de Paix, Haiti and both of his parents are deceased. He began living on the streets at the age of 10 and he has 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Yvener recently got his driver’s license, currently works at Zanfan Lakay and hopes to be a home construction engineer someday.

Peggy Jilot (no picture available at this time) also aged out of the orphanage in Decemeber 2015.  Between working at Zanfan Lakay and going to school, Peggy has not made it to my house yet.  No additional information is available at this time.
